Welcome!

“In all chaos there is a cosmos, in all disorder a secret order.”

(C. G. Jung)

Passionate about supporting people with all walks in life to fulfill their potentials and goals, over 25 years as a clinical psychologist, I have been helping adults and couples to better cope with their mental health issues and to capitalise on their strengths.

Drawing on different psychological models, including the psychodynamic, cognitive behavioural (CBT, ACT and DBT) and EMDR ones, my practice is informed by an integrative & collaborative approach.

My clinical expertise has been developed during my years of private practice and work in public mental health &forensic services in Australia, New Zealand and Brazil, where I have also lectured in Psychology for over 10 years.

At present, in addition to my private practice, I work as a Senior Clinical Psychologist at the adult mental health services of Alfred Health in Melbourne.

Collaborative practice; respect to singularity, diversity & people’s rights; transparency; propriety and integrity are among my core professional values.

In addition to couple’s therapy, I am highly experienced in psychological assessment and treatment for adults with depression, anxiety, trauma-related problems, adjustment disorder, ASD, existential & interpersonal issues, psychosis, personality vulnerabilities, psychological problems due to physical illness (including TBI & concussion), chronic pain management, among others.

With a master’s and a PhD degree in Psychology, I am registered as a clinical psychologist and a Board-approved supervisor with AHPRA. I am also a full member of the Australian Clinical Psychology Association (ACPA) and the EMDR Association of Australia (EMDRAA). I have authored books and peer-reviewed papers in Psychology.

I offer consultation to adults and couples, in person in my office in South Yarra, and online, both in English and in Portuguese, as well as deliver supervision to psychologists (including provisional and registrars) and other health professionals.

I look forward to hearing from you soon.

Warm regards,

Dr Luis Gustavo Vechi
